Man Stoned To Death For Stealing Cell Phone

Tulihaleni Kadhila lost his life at the hands of five men who allegedly assaulted him with bricks and beer bottles, after accusing him of stealing a cell phone from one of them.

A 30-year-old man from the Mondesa residential area of Swakopmund was stoned to death in the early hours of Saturday morning  because he allegedly stole a cell phone.

Namibian Police Force (NamPol)'s Crime Investigations Coordinator for the Erongo Region, Deputy Commissioner, Ottilie Kashuupulwa confirmed the incident on Sunday.

"The deceased sustained serious injuries on the forehead and died instantly," said the commissioner.

She noted that four suspects were arrested on Saturday afternoon and are expected to appear in the Swakopmund Magistrate's Court on Monday, March 2015.
