A 32-year-old man has been arrested for impregnating a 14-year-old girl.

A DNA test is to be carried out in a bid to confirm who is responsible for the new-born baby.

A 32-year-old man has been arrested by the Jigawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), for allegedly having sexual relationship and impregnating a 14-year-old girl.

The Commandant of the corps in the state, Muhammad Gidado, said the suspect, who is a resident of Kanti Quarters in Katoge village, was arrested in Kazaure Local Government Area, had confessed to sleeping with the minor several times, resulting in the pregnancy.

"The Jigawa Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has arrested a 32-year-old man for raping and impregnating a 14-year-old girl in Kazaure Local Government Area.

The matter was reported by the mother of the victim to the men of the corps operating in the area.

When the suspect was invited and interrogated, he confessed to having canal knowledge of the girl many times."

Gidado said a clinical test conducted showed that the victim was carrying a four-month-old pregnancy.
