Over the course of seven books, eight films and endless spin-off fan fic, schoolboy wizard Harry Potter has faced true evil. And now the spotlight turns to the villains of JK Rowling's wizarding world, in a new permanent exhibit at the Warner Bros Studio Tour focusing on the Dark Arts.
The Dark Arts exhibit sees new props and sets in place that focus purely on the villains of Harry Potter's world. The Malfoy Mansion set now shows the meeting between the Death Eaters and Lord Voldemort, with the addition of a 20ft model of Voldemort's snake Nagini; the unfortunate Muggle Studies teacher Charity Burbage (seen suspended above the table); and Voldemort's army of Death Eaters. The Malfoy Manor set was created for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 by set designer Stuart Craig.
The new exhibit allows more focus on the intricate craftsmanship of the props and set design teams. A cabinet filled with Death Eater masks is as beautiful as it is eerie. 'What’s lovely about those is that they are treated as a piece of armour so we made them using processes that the Greenwich armoury would use,' says Pierre Bohanna, Harry Potter's head propmaker.
