Whoever said all the fun parties and festivals happen in the summer months of June/July/August, clearly hasn't heard of Oktoberfest, the largest beer and folk festival in the world.

Running from mid or late September to the first weekend in October, Oktoberfest holds in Munich, Germany and attracts millions of tourists every year.

Tracing its history as a celebration of the royal wedding between Crown Prince Ludwig, later to become King Ludwig I and Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen, Oktoberfest now stands as a full-fledged festival attracting tons of sponsors and tourists.

This year marks the 182nd Oktoberfest and it will be open to the public from 19th September to 4th October.
