Telecommunication Company, Tigo Ghana has donated relief items to victims affected by the recent flood and fire disaster that hit Accra, resulting in the loss of over 200 lives.
Ghana was on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 hit with flood and fire disasters which claimed over 200 lives and destroyed properties worth thousands of Ghana cedis.

The assorted items which includes 500 pieces of student mattresses, 500 blankets, 500 mats, 50 packs of toiletries and 300 buckets among others, were presented to the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) in Accra by the Chief Executive Officer of Tigo Ghana, Roshi Motman.
She indicated that the company was saddened by the tragic loss.
“It’s been heart breaking watching all those images in the media. We are saddened by the tragic loss of lives and destruction of properties. These are very tough times for the country and we want to support NADMO to help care for those affected”.
The Deputy National Coordinator at NADMO, Ebenezer Dosu expressed gratitude to Tigo for the gesture.
“We are very grateful and overwhelmed with the quantum of donation from Tigo. We want to promise that these items will go to the affected victims,” he said.
The Goil filling station, close to the main Nkrumah Circle branch of the Ghana Commercial Bank, was completely razed down by fire in a havoc that lasted several hours. The fire, which started some few minutes past 10pm, spread to nearby structures where people were seeking refuge from the heavy downpour.
