We are not shedding load- GRIDCO

The company has been experiencing intermittent power shortages lately due to a disruption in the production of Gas from the FPSO Kwame Nkrumah.

According to the Chairman of the Load Shedding Committee, William Amuna, power providers have not considered implementing any load-shedding exercise due to the early rains which are expected to improve hydroelectric power generation.

He adds that electricity demand will potentially reduce by 500MW as the heat will reduce.

"For now we have not considered any load-shedding management timetable because it seems the rains are coming, and when the rains come demand is down by about 500 MW" he explained.

He however expressed delight at the Takoradi Power Company (TAPCO) at the Aboadze enclave in Takoradi which was down as a result of a technical hitch which occurred during the conversion process was back on stream.

The company has now added 320MW to the national grid.
