However, Deputy Power Minister, John Jinapor maintains that the country is not back into energy crisis.
“It will be an exaggeration to say we have been plunged into another energy crisis. The prolonged power outage experienced during the weekend was due to a challenge with our power plant in Aboadze, a mechanical fault”, he said.
Mr. Jinapor revealed that some plants are still down, causing blackouts in certain communities.
“The blackout in those communities would be resolved in a few days. It is not a long-term challenge.”
Some parts of Accra experienced about 12 hours of blackout over the weekend. The areas affected included Achimota, Mile Seven, Abeka Lapaz, Adenta, Madina, East Legon, Ablekuma, Nima, Kanda, Accra New Town, among other suburbs.
