The people who had come to register their businesses expressed their displeasure at the “bureaucratic processes” in registering their establishments.

Dr Bawumia said the NPP government is bent on making Ghana a “business friendly country”. He observed that such a vision must start with a smooth registering process at the Registrar-General’s Department.

A stunned acting Registrar General Mrs. Jemima Oware Mrs. Oware said the three-month-old state attorneys strike was having a heavy toll on the process because the lawyers need to review the applications.
Dr Bawumia after being briefed said the visit “was a fulfilled visit and there will be follow-up discussions.”
He said the Nana Addo-led administration will use the “benchmark” of Rwanda which is currently ranked the most business-friendly country in Africa.

Dr. Bawumia further appealed to officials at the Department to speed up the processes and to do their best to position Ghana as a business-friendly environment.
He finally indicated that there will be more of such surprise visits to other state institutions to make sure “things work in Ghana.”
