Super Eagles striker receives rousing welcome in Dubai ahead of Al Ain move

Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Emenike on Thursday, July 9 received a rousing welcome as he arrived Dubai ahead of his move to Al Ain.

The Nigeria International will be joining the United Arab Emirate side on loan from his Turkish side, Fenerbahce.

The 28-year-old arrived at the Dubai International Airport at the early hours of Thursday and was received by club’s team manager Nasser Al Junaibi who presented him with an elegant bouquet of beautiful roses.

Speaking to newsmen at the airport, Al Junaibi thanked the Al Ain board of directors for their efforts to bring a top-quality replacement in Emenike for Ghana skipper Asamoah Gyan who has moved to Chinese side Shanghai SIPG.

“Emmanuel Emenike has high technical qualities, he played a significant role to help Nigeria win the Africa Cup of Nations in 2013, as well as an exceptional level performance for Fenerbahce, which made him get attention of major European clubs,” the Al Ain manager said.

Emenike will be officially unveiled later today and will travel to Austria for pre-season training with his new teammates.

Emenike said he is joining the Arab club to seek new challenges after a difficult season in Turkey.

“Being a Fenerbahçe player is something I will cherish for the rest of my career. Now, I have to move because I need a new challenge in my career and leaving now is the best decision taken,” the striker African Football.

“I am using this moment to express my gratitude to the club Fenerbahce and everybody who believes in me in one way or the other. Fenerbahçe is a great club and I wish them all the best in the new season.”

“I am looking forward to new challenge in UAE, as well as to get more playing time under my belt and score many goals. For every striker, it is important to score goals and I am already looking forward to that challenge.”
