As Westfield police officers was trying to clear a rowdy, overcapacity crowd from Shenanigans Pub when DJ Boogy started to play the song.
The police, however, failed to see the funny side, resulting in a $50 fine for disorderly conduct.
Officer Juanita Mejias wrote in her report that she felt the DJ was trying to incite the crowd at Shenanigans in Westfield, Massachusetts in a ‘reckless disregard for public safety’.
She said that she had asked Harris to shut off the music to help fire marshalls clear a path to the bar, and it was then he started playing the N.W.A track.
It might seem like too much of a coincidence but the DJ claims he had the song cued up before officers even arrived and only played a snippet before the song was shut down.
‘I had no intention of inciting a riot, it was just college kids having fun,’ Harris told Mass Live.
‘For them to even think I was trying to start riots was frustrating for me. That’s not my kind of background, that’s not where I come from.’
Harris usually performs at weddings, college events, and as nearby club but had been invited by an alumnus of Westfield State University to DJ their homecoming weekend party. Metro UK added.
