According to NBC Washington, police say the intruder was holding a manila folder and was carrying the flag.
White House locked down after man jumped fence with suspicious package while Obama was inside
The White House was placed on lockdown on Thanksgiving after a man was arrested for jumping over the White House fence while President Obama and his family were inside.
Joseph Caputo faces criminal charges after he scaled over the north fence line of the White House and was immediately apprehended about 2:45 p.m., said Robert Hoback, a spokesman for the Secret Service.
Vanessa Peña, who was visiting the White house said she heard him take a deep breath before saying, “ ‘All right, let’s do this.’ ”
Officials did not provide details on Caputo’s age, home town or any reason for the jumper’s actions.
A number of changes were made to the fencing in June, including a new topping of sharp metal spikes, in a bid to improve security around The White House.
Police have said the situation is now under control.
The incident comes after an Army veteran tried to scale the White House fence with a knife last year.
