Police officers in Los Angeles have shot dead a homeless man in an exchange that was caught on video.
A violent argument occurred between the man and a group of four officers who eventually wrestled him to the ground.
The officers were later heard shouting "Drop the gun!, Drop the gun!" after which five shots were fired leaving the homeless man dead.
The LA Police Department had said that the officers were in the area to investigate a possible robbery.
LAPD Commander, Andrew Smith told the Los Angeles Times that the shots were fired because the victim was struggling with one of the officers over his gun.
The LAPD has however said that it would investigate the incident thoroughly.
It is not yet clear what caused the altercation between the officers and the homeless man and why he was initially pegged as a suspect.
