Minister's bodyguard reportedly shoots armed robber dead

The suspected robbers had wanted to rob the vehicle of the Sanitation Minister.

The police bodyguard of the Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Joseph Kofi Adda has reportedly shot dead one suspected armed robber who attempted robbing the Minister’s vehicle Thursday evening.

The Minister was not in the vehicle at the time of the attack as he was believed to have travelled by air to be picked up on Friday morning at the Tamale airport ahead of the burial of the late mother of the Minister.

Reports say that the driver and the bodyguard travelled to Navrongo ahead of the burial using the Wa and Tumu road.

However, upon arriving around Chuchuliga, the bumped into a roadblock which had been mounted by the three suspected robbers.

The robbers demanded that the driver comply or they will shoot.

But right after the driver pulled off, the Minister’s bodyguard managed to pull off the trigger, killing one of the suspected robbers. The others were said to have fled into the bush.

The body has since been taken to the War Memorial Hospital in Navrongo for preservation.

Meanwhile, police have launched investigations into the matter to be able to bring the other perpetrators to book.
