Here is why Martin Amidu named Rawlings as referee on his CV

When he was asked why he named the founder of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as his Referee on his CV, Marin Amidu said it was because the former President brought him into politics and mentored him.

When he was asked why he named the founder of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as his Referee on his CV, Marin Amidu said it was because the former President brought him into politics and mentored him.

“Rawlings brought me into politics… It was Rawlings who fought to reduced corruption drastically in this country. He fought corruption and he brought me into politics for the first time.”

He was responding to questions from members of Parliament’s Appointment Committee before the approval or otherwise of his nomination.

Mr Amidu added that he was grateful that the former President issued a public statement to congratulate him after his nomination as Special Prosecutor.

About Martin Amidu

Martin A. B. K. Amidu was the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice from January 2011 till January 2012 under the late President John Evans Atta-Mills.

Amidu, a member of the NDC, served as the Deputy Attorney-General for about the last four years of the Provisional National Defence Council military government.

After civilian rule was established in the Fourth Republic in January 1993, he continued to serve in the government of Jerry Rawlings as Deputy Attorney-General. This he did for both terms lasting eight years until January 2001.
