President John Dramani Mahama is in Paris as Ghana becomes the 50th member of the OECD's development centre.

The president speaking on FRANCE 24’s TV channel welcomed the recent return to civilian rule in Burkina Faso, which was encouraged by the West African bloc ECOWAS. Mahama was chair of ECOWAS before handing over to Senegal's Macky Sall.
"What happened in Burkina Faso is a sign of hope that Africa has changed," Mahama said. "It’s a success of democracy in West Africa".
President Mahama also reacted to the suspension of seven high court judges in Ghana over bribery allegations. "It is a reflection of institutional weakness that we need to work on and make sure we have stronger institutions," he admitted.

However, he added that he sees these suspensions as showing "the robustness of our system".
