NDC sets GH¢50,000 as filing fees for presidential aspirants

Anyone who wants to contest President John Mahama will pay GH¢ 50,000 as filing fee in the NDC presidential primaries

 

The National Executive Committee of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced a non-refundable fee of GH¢ 50,000 to be paid by male flag bearer aspirants whilst in line with the party’s social democratic gender sensitive credentials, has offered a 50 per cent rebate to female aspirants.

The decision was reached at a crucial meeting by NEC of the party Thursday afternoon.

Both President John Mahama and Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur attended the national executives meeting in Accra to decide the modalities for the upcoming primaries.

The party’s General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia who chaired the meeting announced that the NDC being a disability and gender bias party, has resolved to slash the filing fee by fifty(50%) for prospective candidates who are women and physically challenged.

The party has also set November 7, 2015 for both the presidential and parliamentary primaries.

Meanwhile, Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, Minister in-charge of Trade and Industry has denied reports that he is contesting President JohnMahama to lead the NDC in the 2016 elections.

Posters of Dr Spio-Garbrah purportedly coming from the Friends of Spio-Garbrah have already flooded social media to inform the public about the minister’s intentions.
