Nana Addo has lost respect as a political leader - Arthur K

Mr. Arthur Kennedy, who had earlier condemned the suspension of the party’s General Secretary and Second Vice Chairman, Kwabena Agyepong and Sammy Crabbe, said Nana Addo will regret the current happenings in the party.

A member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Arthur Kennedy has described as unfortunate the leadership style of flag bearer of the party, Nana Akufo-Addo, which he believes has contributed to the woes of the party.

Speaking on Accra-based Starr FM, Mr. Kennedy said he is very disappointed in Nana Addo and has lost respect for him.

"In the fullness of time, Nana Addo will regret having his name added to the disgustful proceedings. I'm very disappointed by the leader he has become. I've respected him a lot. But I'm very saddened about what he has become and what he has turned the NPP into," he added.

"If you ask me from the bottom of my heart whether I respect Nana Akufo-Addo now as a leader, No, I don't. I respect him as an elderly ghanaian," Arthur Kennedy added.

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party on Thursday affirmed the decision of the party's Disciplinary Committee to suspend its Second National Vice-Chairman, Mr Sammy Crabbe and General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong.

However, Arthur Kennedy in a statement said “The suspension of Afoko effectively tied our right hand behind us. The suspension of Crabbe and KAA will tie the other hand. By the time we are done, the NDC will not need to rig the 2016 elections– we would have won it for them.”

Below is the full statement

There is a by-election this month and there is a general election next year. However, today, the NPP will continue the “Gbesie-inspired” practice of weakening itself by attempting to suspend Crabbe and KAA. The suspension of Afoko effectively tied our right hand behind is.

The suspension of Crabbe and KAA will tie the other hand. By the time we are done, the NDC will not need to rig the 2016 elections– we would have won it for them.

Paul Afoko was the man who had a plan, with macho men and supplies to win Tain before the “I put it to you” crowd decided to go to court and wimped out on fighting Tain.

KAA was assaulted for being a Nana Addo man in 1998! He worked with me in the failed attempt to persuade Alan Kyeremanteng not to contest Nana Addo in 2010.

Sammy Crabbe had the most comprehensive plan to win a region in 2008– we just never used it. The 3 of them combined have over 50 years experience and undoubted loyalty to the cause of the NPP.

The charges against KAA and earlier against the others are laughable. They diminish the proud traditions of the NPP.

Kwabena Agyapong is being charged with friendship with Ibrahim Mahama? Really? How many want us to list all the hypocrites who funded their NPP elections from NDC sources?

As for having Kufuor’s portrait rather than that of the flag-bearer, it makes a lot of sense. His portrait must be there to remind the NPP of the leadership qualities that united us and made us the governing party twice. May God cure the NPP of the Gbesie that is destroying it.
