Former Director of the pro-opposition policy think tank, Danquah Institute, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, has debunked claims by some members of the public that the internal wranglings being faced by the New Patriotic Party may have an impact on the party’s fortunes in the 2016 elections.
We will still win 2016 elections despite internal conflicts - Gabby
Mr. Gabby Otchere-Darko said that even though the NPP had similar challenges in the past, it still went ahead to win the 2000 elections with the then candidate John Kufuor.

The NPP is currently going through some internal struggles as its general secretary Kwabena Agyepong, took to the media Monday to vent his spleen on its flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo and some party executives, alleging they are working against him. The development, some political observers have said will likely affect the fortunes of the party in the 2016 elections. But, Mr. Otchere-Darko has said that the current problems are not huge as some people will believe and will in no way affect their campaign process.
“There are problems everywhere, there are problems in the NDC, NPP and several other places but what the NPP's candidate has managed to do is to be able to convince all the past executives, DCEs, ministers and all of them. And they have all promised their commitment to the course.
“I will admit that there may be problems at the top and they are worrying but that does not necessarily mean that is going to reflect in the outcome of the elections. The 2016 election is going to be on the track record of the John Mahama administration and not what is perhaps happening in the NPP,” he said on Starr FM.
Mr. Gabby Otchere-Darko further stated that even though the NPP had similar challenges in the past, it still went ahead to win the 2000 elections with the then candidate John Kufuor.
