Police whip Let My Vote Count Alliance demonstrators

The demonstration which started peacefully ended with so many people getting hurt for defying a police order not to go near the Electoral Commission

Leader of the Let My Vote Count Alliance David Asante and several other demonstrators have been arrested by the police for defying a directive not to go to the premises of the Electoral Commission.

Many others were beaten by the police  in an attempt to prevent them from getting near the EC.

The demonstration which was to mount pressure on the EC to prepare a new register saw over thousand people in attendance. What promised to be a peaceful event turned violent after the police started firing tear gas at the demonstrators.

The police before the demonstration had declared the Electoral Commission area as a security zone.

David Asante the leader of the demonstrators on several platforms indicated that the police's directive was unfair particularly when they plan to embark on a peaceful march.

The demonstration began peacefully until the group tried to access the EC through the Kojo Thompson road. This angred the police who fired tear gas to disperse the crowd.

Let My Vote Count Alliance, Movement for Change and AFAG are determined to ensure the EC to prepares a new register.
