Spio urges NDC to use mindset-change to win 2020 general elections
Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, a contender for the flagbearership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), is optimistic that his message and persuasion would convince delegates to elect him as leader of the party for the 2020 general elections but not dashing money and material things to them.

He encouraged them to persistently chant a new mantra that would keep them vigilant and at the same time highlights their frustration and anger to the level that will make them work hard to oust the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from government in 2020.
Dr. Spio-Garbrah counseled the delegates to adopt slogans that would galvanize the party to match the NPP boot for boot...'eye zu, eye za' and 'emefa mia mia' would not help us to be in that new state of mind."
Spio further made the point that it is good to make it clearer to those who don’t understand that “ehe edjor bordooo” and “emefa Mia Mia” both mean that “things are very cool and alright” and he made the delegates understand that being in opposition is not cool and the situation under the NPP is not fine....so the NDC’s slogans must match the reality of the lives of NDC members. Otherwise, NDC members will lull themselves into a
Condition of complacency which will work against the NDC in mobilizing itself for what will be a very difficult campaign of trying to remove a party and government which would have served only one term by 2020.
"Now we want the government to change after four years, we need to be prepared in the mind first. We need a psychological change and a brand that will reflect our new circumstances. This is not about sharing money or cars or material things. This is about the courage to work hard to defeat the NPP" he maintained.
The delegates were enthused by the message of the former Communications Minister and so reciprocated his affability and knowledge-sharing with a standing ovation amidst chanting "It's Spio's time, it's Spio's time" and following it with singing the thought-provoking songs that Dr. Spio-Garbrah taught and rehearsed with them in Awurama Bedu's lyrics.
The lyrics of the songs go thus: "Nana Addo a dada me ooooo. Bawumia a dadaa me aaaaaa. NPP di yen ntro aaaa, yeri baaa b3 tu won". That means that sitting President, Nana Akufo-Addo has swindled us. Dr. Bawumia has fed us with lies. The NPP has always lied to us therefore we are on our way to defeat their government in 2020.
The other song which is quite simpler and which they loved very much is in the Ewe language. It says "Akpe mi ada na NDC"; it is basically expressing gratitude to the heroes of the NDC party for how far they have brought them.
Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah and his campaign team as part of their 7-point agenda are also seeking to help restore the image and reputation of the party as a pro-people party and reducing moderately the increasing monetization and commercialization of the party.
