Soulama Abdoulaye was the first foreign national team player to spend 9 seasons in the Ghana Premier League.

He was the first foreign national to play for both Kotoko and Hearts.

The former Asante Kotoko goalie was the longest serving member of    the golden generation of Burkina Faso national. He played in the team that reached the semifinals in 1998 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and was also part of the 2013 losing finalists of the 2013 AFCON.

The Burkina Faso international and Isaac Amoako joined Sammy Adjei and James Nanor as the goalkeepers to have won three consecutive Ghana Premier League titles with a club since its inception in the 1993-94 season.

Soulama played for Turkish side Denizlispor Kulübü from 2000 to 2002.
