The number includes 810 of them being nurses and health visitors, 983 serving as support staff, and another 331 as infrastructure staff.
The data however does not state the number of Ghanaians working as doctors, except that 3,238 doctors are of an African nationality.
The numbers put out by the House of Commons indicate that Ghana is one of the top performing countries that has employees in the UK health service.
A total of 102 nationalities currently work in the UK’s health service, however, Ghana’s health workers were ranked 15 among the lot, as of September 2017.
The only African countries to be ranked in the top ten are Nigeria and Zimbabwe with 5,405 and 3,899 health workers in the UK respectively.
India’s 18,348 staff, though, comes only second to the number of Brits working in the UK’s National Health Service.
