Argentina have returned to the number one spot in FIFA's world rankings, ending Belgium's five-month stint at the top.
Gerardo Martino's men recorded victories over Chile and Bolivia in World Cup qualification last month, while Belgium suffered defeat to Portugal.
Argentina were previously first in July 2015 after reaching the Copa America final, but promptly lost that spot to Marc Wilmots' men, who they have now passed again.
Despite their defeat to Argentina, Chile move up two spots to third place having defeated Venezuela in their other game, while another CONMEBOL side, Colombia, surge from eighth to fourth after wins over Bolivia and Ecuador.
