Domestic football in Ghana is expected to return in January, 2019 after going on break in June following the Number 12 expose’.

It has been reported that the Normalisation Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in a meeting with club owners of the Premier League and National Division One League agreed to usher in a stop-gap competition in their quest to bring Ghana football back to normalcy.

The competition which is expected to commence in January 2019 and ends in June, 2019 will comprise clubs from both the Ghana Premier League and the National Division One League.

This attempt is to synchronize the domestic leagues with that of Europe, which has been a challenge to the clubs

Local football went on break after the premiering of the expose’ on Ghana football dubbed ‘Number 12’ by renowned investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas on 6 June, 2018.

It would be recalled that several match and football officials were caught receiving monies suspected to be bribes with former GFA president Kwesi Nyantakyi in the middle of the scandal.

Normalisation Committee was formed by FIFA to replace the Executive Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to restructure the beautiful game in the country.
