Ghana football has witnessed a decline in fortune in recent times, with the quality of the local league being frequently questioned.

The Black Stars have also failed land a major trophy in the last 35 years, and were woeful as the team placed a disappointing fourth in the just ended Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

Coach of the Porcupine Warriors, Zdravko Logarusic, who has had previous stints with Ashanti Gold and King Faisal, insists the level of football in the country has nosedived as compared to previous times.

“There is stagnation in the level of football in Ghana,” the Kotoko coach is quoted as saying by Sportscrusader.com.

“We used to dominate in Africa and football, but it is not like it used to be.

“When I was here as a coach for the first time, the U-20 won the world cup, because the standard of football was very high. But it is not like that these days.  We are now struggling.

“I want to see the new generation rebuild the lost image.”

The Croat was in charge when Kotoko defeated Liberty Professionals 2-1 in match-day one of the Ghana Premier League.
