The GFA also announced that David Duncan will serve as the Assistant Coach of the Black Stars.
CK Akonnor joined the technical team of the Black Stars in October last year, after being picked as assistant coach of the national team.
However, former Kotoko and Hearts of Oak gaffer has now risen to become the main boss following Kwesi Appiah’s departure.
Appiah recently left his post as Ghana coach after the GFA refused to renew his contract upon its expiration.
Meanwhile, CK Akonnor is expected to make the Black Stars competitive again, with his immediate task being to qualify the team to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
He comes into the job with vast experience on the local scene, having coached Hearts, Kototo, Ashanti Gold and Dreams FC.
