The Chicago Cubs finally returned to winning ways in MLB, while Madison Bumgarner starred for the San Francisco Giants.

Anthony Rizzo and Kris Bryant helped the Cubs snap a five-game losing streak with a 6-5 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Bumgarner carried a no-hitter into the eighth inning before settling for a complete-game shutout in the Giants' 4-0 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Los Angeles Dodgers edged past the San Diego Padres 3-1 on the last day of action before the All-Star break.

The Philadelphia Phillies beat the Colorado Rockies 10-3, the Minnesota Twins thrashed the Texas Rangers 15-5 and the Seattle Mariners overcame the Kansas City Royals 8-5.

The St Louis Cardinals claimed a 5-1 win over the Milwaukee Brewers, while the Houston Astros needed 10 innings to get past the Oakland Athletics 2-1.

The Atlanta Braves (2-0 over the Chicago White Sox) and Boston Red Sox (4-0 against the Tampa Bay Rays) had shut-out wins.

Josh Donaldson hit a three-run homer in the Toronto Blue Jays' 6-1 win over the Detroit Tigers, the Miami Marlins beat the Cincinnati Reds 7-3 and the New York Yankees were 11-7 victors against the Cleveland Indians.

The Washington Nationals edged the New York Mets 3-2 and the Baltimore Orioles were 4-2 winners over the Los Angeles Angels.

Braves starting pitcher Mike Foltynewicz surprised by striking out a career-high 10 batters in seven scoreless innings against the White Sox. Foltynewicz gave up just five hits to improve to 3-3 with a 3.67 ERA.

The Marlins' Marcell Ozuna produced an incredible throw to home.

After collecting two hits, a home run and three RBIs against the Tigers, Blue Jays third baseman Donaldson became just the sixth ever American League player to hit 20 homers and score 80 runs before the All-Star break.

The National and American Leagues do battle on Tuesday before the regular season resumes three days later.
