'This is not the time to jubilate' - Ursula urges supporters

The incumbent New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament (MP) in the Ablekuma West Constituency, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has charged her supporters to minimize their jubilation and start working to get her re-elected in November.

She polled 554 votes while her opponent, Robert Nicol polled 317 votes.

In an interview with pulse.com.gh after the declaration, the Ablekuma West MP said she was confident of winning the election based on the feedback she got from the delegates.

She however, indicated that “the time to work has come; this is not the time to jubilate.”

“It is time for us to come together as one party, united behind our candidate to work hard to retain the seat and to maximize the votes for our presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo,” she said.

She expressed her appreciation to the delegates and also thanked Robert Nicol for “giving me a run for my money and he got quite a few more votes than I thought he would get.”

She nonetheless appealed to the former constituency chairman who pulled out of the race, Theophilus Tetteh to reconsider his decision of leaving the party in the interest of the NPP.

“NPP is winning the general election and every single one of our members ought to be part of that victory,” she remarked.
