The Broncos confirmed Manning will get the starting nod over Brock Osweiler for their divisional-round game playoff game on January 17.

Manning, who had not played since November 15 because of a torn plantar fascia in his right foot, entered last Sunday's game against the San Diego Chargers in place of Osweiler in the third quarter.

He led Denver on an 80-yard scoring drive to take the lead. The Broncos eventually prevailed 27-20 to clinch the top seed in the AFC.

Osweiler - 5-2 as a starter in place of Manning this season - will return to his backup role.

However, head coach Gary Kubiak can rest easier knowing he has a capable backup should Manning, 39, get injured or struggle as he did earlier in the season.
