London 2017 organisers announce 'Bolt ticket'

Organisers for the 2017 World Championships in London have announced a "Bolt ticket" whereby children can attend the event for just £9.58.

The price reflects Jamaican sprint sensation Usain Bolt's world record 100 metre effort set at the 2009 Worlds in Berlin.

The structure of pricing was confirmed by organisers on Tuesday with the price for children set for the entire event.

And six-time Olympic champion Bolt - who previously stated his intention to retire after the Worlds in London - welcomed the decision to offer cut-price tickets for children.

"I always say that the children are the future and I commend the organisers of London 2017 on this initiative to give young people the chance to buy affordable tickets," Bolt told London 2017's official website.

"I hope it will inspire many of them to get into athletics and look forward to seeing many young people filling seats next summer."

The "Bolt ticket" is part of a "legend tickets" category that honours four world records set at previous World Championships.

British athletes Colin Jackson, Jonathan Edwards and Sally Gunnell join Bolt in having prices set in their honour at the event.
