Gucci drags e-commerce company to court

After de-listing 900 million sellers from their site, and penalising over 100,000 others, following investigations about counterfeiting in china, Alibaba has landed in court again.

This time, it is in court to defend a law suit instituted against it by Gucci,Yves Saint Laurent and other high-end brands owned by Kering SA, based in Paris.

The suit claims that "Alibaba has allowed for counterfeit sales to continue even when it had been expressly informed that merchants were selling fake products."

An official statement from the company says 'No products can be sold on the Site without the explicit permission from the intellectual property right holder. Branded products are permitted to be displayed and sold on the Site if a certificate of authorisation has been issued by the brand owner.'
