Swansea City started the game at the Liberty Stadium on the high bossing possession and posing a lot of threat to a Chelsea defence that was without captain John Terry, Gary Cahill and Kurt Zouma who has been ruled out for the entire season with a knee injury.

Gylfi Sigurdsson scored the opening goal of the game and what proved to be the only goal of the game after 25 minutes of play.

Jefferson Montero did some create work on the left hand side of the Swansea City attack to cross a superb ball into the box.

Chelsea failed to clear their lines properly as Gylfi Sigurdsson got to the end of the clearance at the edge of the box to shoot into the Premier League champions’ net.

Andre Ayew was replaced by Wayne Routeledge after 67 minutes of play with Abdul Baba Rahman playing in the full game for his Chelsea team who also lost their first English Premier League game since Guus Hiddink took charge after Jose Mourinho was sacked.
