How Attorney General’s family escaped gas explosion

Ghana’s Attorney General, Gloria Akufo has said that her family escaped the Atomic junction gas explosion which recorded 7 deaths.

“I travelled for a funeral and came late only to meet the gas explosion. I thanked God for my life and for my old lady (her mother) who was around at that time in my house,” the Attorney General told journalists on Sunday at the explosion site.

However, her children and her mother were home when the incident occurred.

She narrated that her children quickly relocated out of the house to East Legon for safety.

She added that “the colour of my house has changed to black, my sliding doors and ceiling have broken.”

Gloria Akufo was speaking to the media when she accompanied the Vice President Bawumia to tour the explosion site.

Two filling stations went up in flames at the Atomic junction near University of Ghana after the Mansco gas filling station exploded.

So far 7 people have died with over 100 injured.

The fire also consumed about 20 vehicles in the process.
