Ghana defeated Nigeria 4-1 in the final of the 2017 WAFU tournament at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.

The Sports Minister Hon. Isaac Asiamah had earlier announced that the President of the Republic of Ghana would donate $100,000 to the Black Stars for emerging champions of the tournament.

The playing body, the management team and the technical team of the Black Stars B paid a courtesy call on President Akufo-Addo who wasn't in the country the day Ghana won the WAFU tournament to present the trophy to him and used that moment to announce $100,000 reward package for the team for making the nation proud.
