Australia remain in control against New Zealand
New Zealand began their second innings on Sunday trailing Australia by 379 runs after Adam Voges made an incredible 239 before he was caught and bowled by Mark Craig (2-153).
The veteran's dismissal meant his record-breaking unbeaten streak finally ended at 614 runs, besting Sachin Tendulkar's previous mark of 497 Test runs without being dismissed.
It also meant Voges' Test average went down to 97.46 from 19 innings, after being ahead of Donald Bradman's 99.94 before his wicket fell.
Voges had resumed on 176 and made his way past 200 midway through the first session, receiving strong support from Peter Siddle (49).
Siddle fell one short of a half-century after he was caught by Corey Anderson off Doug Bracewell (2-127).
Josh Hazlewood (8) and Nathan Lyon (3) barely troubled the scorers, as Voges was the last to fall with Australia on 562 – a lead of 379.
New Zealand did well to initially dent the tourists' lead, with Tom Latham and Martin Guptill combining for 81 before the latter fell for 45 after he tried to hit Nathan Lyon (2-35) over the top, but Mitchell Marsh was there to take an excellent catch.
Kane Williamson was the next to go after he was caught behind following his 22 off 44 balls, before Usman Khawaja caught Latham (63) off Lyon.
The Black Caps suffered a massive blow off what proved to be the final ball of the day when Marsh (1-40) had Brendon McCullum out lbw.
The skipper challenged the decision, but the original call was upheld as New Zealand were left trailing by 201 runs at the close of play.
