Aus Open: Radwanska too good for Bouchard
Radwanska showed grit and determination, digging herself out of a hole in the first set to see off the fit-again Bouchard 6-4 6-2 on Rod Laver.
Bouchard came into the grand slam nearing her best after suffering a bad bout of concussion last year, making the Hobart International final as well as the Shenzhen Open quarter-finals, where Radwanska triumphed this month.
And Bouchard, who held an 8-18 career win-loss record against players in the top 10, looked on track for a big scalp after executing a delicate drop shot for a 4-2 lead in the first set, but that sparked Radwanska into action.
She broke back immediately, winning four consecutive games to claim the opener following five set points.
The 2014 semi-finalist continued where she left off in the second set, up 2-0 with an early break.
It was a lead Radwanska never relinquished as she maintained her unbeaten start in 2016, while earning a seventh straight third-round appearance at the Australian Open.
