Leeds Rhinos have lost eight of their 10 matches in Super League this season, their woes continuing on Saturday with defeat at Salford.

A late fightback proved in vain for Leeds Rhinos as the reigning Super League champions' truly miserable campaign continued with a 14-10 defeat at Salford Red Devils on Saturday.

Last season's domestic treble winners looked set to suffer the ignominy of being kept scoreless at the AJ Bell Stadium as they entered the final eight minutes having failed to put a point on the board.

Keith Galloway and Ashton Golding crossed to provide hope for the Rhinos, but Salford - whose tries came from Logan Tomkins and Robert Lui - held on to claim a deserved win.

As a result, second-bottom Leeds have now lost four matches in a row and boast just two wins from 10 Super League fixtures this season, while Salford are up to seventh.

Hooker Tomkins dummied over for the only try of the first period, converted by Gareth O'Brien, and a Michael Dobson penalty made it 8-0 at half-time.

Dobson added another two points after the fit-again Robert Lui crossed early in the second half and Leeds were left with too much to do despite a determined rally in the closing stages.
