The Ghana coach watched his team defeat Saudi Arabia 3-0 in an international friendly on Tuesday, in an impressive outing.

The Black Stars dominated their Asian opponents from start to finish, with goals from Kasim Nuhu and Thomas Partey being added to by an own goal by Saudi Arabia’s Husama Haswani.

Despite being impressed with the emphatic nature of the victory, Appiah also took time to talk up the potential of his new recruits.

The team played in the friendly without key names like Christian Atsu, Andre and JordanAyew, captain Asamoah Gyan and a host of other established stars.

However, Appiah believes the new faces in the squad have shown they can deliver in the absence of their senior colleagues.

Speaking in the aftermath of the friendly, Appiah said: “I was very impressed with the individual performances. It proves that if other players are given the chance they can deliver. “My ambition is to build a team for 2019 and the introduction of some new players in the team is proving to be the right decision, and I want Ghanaians to watch and judge for themselves.”

Ghana, though, will now turn attention to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after failing to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
