Brent Seabrook got a goal and two assists while Artemi Panarin scored twice in the Chicago Blackhawks' win over the Detroit Red Wings.

The Chicago Blackhawks notched their 40th win of the season with a thumping 5-2 victory over the Detroit Red Wings.

The Blackhawks took a 1-0 lead through Brent Seabrook and added their second and third through Artemi Panarin and Patrick Kane – with his 37th of the season – respectively in the second period.

The Red Wings showed some signs of life when Brad Richards pulled one back for the home side, only for Andrew Ladd and Panarin to strike in the space of a minute to put the visitors 5-1 up before Gustav Nyquist scored a late consolation.

The Anaheim Ducks extended their winning streak to nine games with a 3-2 shoot-out victory against the Montreal Canadiens.

Alex Galchenyuk twice put the Canadiens ahead, but only Jakob Silfverberg was able to score in the shoot-out as the Ducks' run continued.

Matt Niskanen scored the winning goal against the Toronto Maple Leafs in a 3-2 triumph for the Washington Capitals.

First-period goals from Taylor Chorney and Alex Ovechkin had the Capitals 2-0 up, only for Nikita Soshnikov and Colin Greening to level the scores, but Niskanen provided the winner less than midway through the third.
