Boucher to work with Proteas coaching team

Mark Boucher has agreed to join up with South Africa's Test team as they prepare for their upcoming home series with New Zealand.

The 39-year-old will link up with Russell Domingo's squad ahead of the opening match in Durban next week, and is expected to work closely with wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock and South Africa's lower order.

During his career Boucher played 147 Tests for South Africa, scoring 5,515 runs at an average of 30.30, while taking 532 catches and making 23 stumpings.

And Domingo will look to tap into that experience to try and give his side a better chance against the Black Caps over two Tests.

"I always have tried to [bring in former players]," Domingo told a media conference.

"To not tap into some of our past players would be foolish of us, particularly a guy that wants to offer something.

"Mark is a guy that is highly respected. It will be particularly good for young Quinton de Kock to spend some time with him and work on his keeping and do a few fielding drills.

"Mark [also] enjoys working with lower order because he likes to toughen guys up.

"He has got the reputation of having that fighting spirit and epitomising what the Proteas have always stood for in terms of being tough.

"This is a new team and this team needs to try and set their own legacy and their own benchmark.

"It's a great opportunity for these guys to do something special, something that not many people are expecting them to do."
