Brem went into Sunday's race ahead of??Rebensburg by 52 points in the giant slalom standings and led the way after the first run in Switzerland.

Rebensburg ended her first attempt down in eighth??position, but produced an excellent performance second time around, her mark??of one minute and 10.82 seconds giving her an overall time of two minutes and 26.15 secs.

That showing put severe pressure on Brem, but, although she was unable to match Rebensburg's effort, the Austrian did enough to secure fourth place - finishing 1.16 secs off the pace - and win the giant slalom title??by two points.

France's Taina Barioz finished 0.46 secs behind Rebensburg in second, with Lara Gut capping off a campaign in which she won the overall title for the first time in her career with a third-place finish.
