Bubba Watson criticises TPC Scottsdale

Bubba Watson made no secret of his dislike for the course changes made at TPC Scottsdale ahead of the Waste Management Phoenix Open.

The two-time Masters champion praised the condition of the course and the overall venue, but is unhappy with modifications to the Stadium Course that were made last year to make it more challenging.

New changes include additional bunkers and one hole on the back nine that has been lengthened.

And world number five Watson, a runner-up for the past two years at the tournament, suggested that the alterations have made the course overly challenging.

"I don't like it [the course]. I'm not going to [be] PC [about] it. I don't like it at all," he said.

"I just mentioned why I'm here. I've got three beautiful sponsors that love it here.

"I didn't see any reason to change it. You know, again, they didn't ask me. It's just my own opinion. I didn't see any reason to change it.

"It just seems like all they did is just tightened it up. Scores didn't change. It just makes it goofier and tougher, which is not fun for us.

"We came here for a reason. We came here because we want to play golf and shoot good scores. 500,000 people show up here. I didn't see there is a reason to change something that's not broke."
