The Magic had squandered an eight-point lead in the fourth quarter but Vucevic came to the rescue at the death after receiving an inbound pass from Elfrid Payton with 2.2 seconds remaining.

Vucevic finished with 22 points, Evan Fournier posted 21 points and Payton had 12 points and 12 assists in a double-double display as the Magic won for just the third time in 18 games this year.

"It's been a rough month for us, a lot of losses, so it's good to get a win against a good team," said Vucevic.

The Hawks, whose winning streak ended at three games, were led by Jeff Teague (24 points) and Kent Bazemore (23 points).

In New York, the slumping Knicks were dealt a 101-96 loss by the Denver Nuggets.

The Nuggets went on an 11-2 run in the final period to see off the Knicks, who suffered a fifth-consecutive defeat.

Nuggets pair Danilo Gallinari and Will Barton registered 19 points apiece, while Kristaps Porzingis had 21 points and 13 rebounds for the Knicks.

Elsewhere, Chris Paul helped the Los Angeles Clippers past the Miami Heat 100-93.

Paul made consecutive three-pointers in the closing stages to finish with a game-high 22 points.

The Boston Celtics won for their ninth game in 10 outings via a 128-119 victory at home to the Sacramento Kings.
