Kwesi Appiah can manage Black Stars – Asamoah Gyan

The Black Stars skipper has backed Kwesi Appiah to succeed if handed the Ghana coaching job.

Kwesi Appiah managed Ghana for two years between 2012 and 2014, and qualified the West African giants to the World Cup in Brazil.

Despite being sacked in 2014, Kwesi Appiah has grossly enhanced his reputation in Sudan where he currently manages.

And the Al Khatoum coach’s name has popped up as a possible candidate to replace Avram Grant – who resigned as Ghana coach after a failed Africa Cup of Nations campaign.

Having received widespread endorsements from many of the locals, Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has also weighed in the debate.

According to Gyan, Kwesi Appiah has what it takes to handle the Black Stars.

"He (Kwesi Appiah) is a good man, he has developed himself in Sudan and I think he is capable of handling the team (Black Stars) again," Gyan said in an interview with Hot FM.

Kwesi Appiah was a member of Ghana’s last Nations Cup winning side in 1982, and steered the team to a fourth-place finish in the 2012 edition before being sacked in 2014 after a poor World Cup campaign.
