Essien, 34, has been training with Chelsea to get himself fit for his next move.

It is believed that the 34-year-old midfielder had been offered to the Swedish trio in what would have been an attractive marketing prospect for them.

But clubs, namely; AIK, Hammarby and IFK Göteborg, chose not to pursue the former Chelsea star as he wasn’t the right fit for them.

Essien however is still searching for a club in the Scandinavia country as he is eager to extend his career in Sweden.

His agent Hamid Kabodvand is aiming to help Essien land himself an Allsvenskan contract.

He told Sportbladet: "This is serious. Essien needs to play matches and get in shape. So the Allsvenskan is perfect.

"He also wants that both he and the club will be able to have an option to terminate the contract in the summer at the next transfer window."
