Collingwood: Ben Stokes can recover from T20 final loss

Paul Collingwood believes Durham team-mate Ben Stokes will bounce back from his England disappointment in the World Twenty20 final.

The 24-year-old was hit for four consecutive sixes in the final over as West Indies stole victory, and has spoken this week of his devastation.

But Durham captain Collingwood, part of Trevor Bayliss' England coaching staff, insists Stokes' disappointment will make him a better player in the long run.

"Trevor said it straight after the match - Ben Stokes would go out and bowl that last over in that match again," the 39-year-old told Sky Sports.

"He's never going to shy away from that and he's one of those cricketers that needs to be in there and in the thick of things.

"It wasn't meant to be on this occasion, but he will bounce back from that. We all know what a talented cricketer he is and thankfully he is a very strong character.

"There were a few tears afterwards, but he'll soon be enjoying himself and it's important that he puts that to bed and keeps improving."

And Stokes himself is taking the positives from England's run to the final.

"It's been a few days since and that's all sort of settled," he said.

"I look at the bigger picture that I've played in a World Cup final and nobody was really expecting us to go that far. There are a lot of positives to come out of the tournament."
