The break in the Six Nations allowed the return of Nathan White and Quinn Roux to the Connacht lineup, and by half-time the visitors were 14-0 up at Murrayfield, courtesy of tries by Alan MacGinty and Jake Heenan.

Further scores by Bundee Aki and Eoin McKeon ensured that Edinburgh's spirited second-half fightback didn't derail Pat Lam’s side, who now sit six points clear at the top of the table.

Fourth-place Ulster bounced back from a disappointing run of form with a near-flawless game as they cruised to a 32-0 victory over struggling Zebre.

Fly-half Paddy Jackson kicked three conversions and three penalties, while number eight Nick Williams gave an all-star performance and scored two tries to the delight of the home crowd at Kingspan Stadium.

Bottom club Benetton Treviso gave Scarlets a scare with a resurgent second-half performance but the Welsh region clung on for a 24-15 win at Parc y Scarlets.

Treviso were a wounded animal after narrowly losing to Munster in their previous outing, and a brace of tries from Robert Barbieri helped them force Scarlets to play some of their best defensive rugby to ensure the points stayed in Wales.
