Cotter reflects on another Six Nations loss

Coach Vern Cotter refused to make excuses after yet another near miss for Scotland in the Six Nations.

Scotland's losing streak in the competition was extended to nine matches on Saturday as they went down 27-23 to Wales at the Principality Stadium, having opened up a three-point lead on three occasions.

Second-half tries from Jamie Roberts and George North turned things around for Wales and ensured Duncan Taylor's late score was no more than a consolation for the visitors, who were beaten 15-9 by England on the opening weekend.

"We were in front until the 65th minute and we let them score so it's there for everyone to see," said Cotter in his post-match news conference.

"There are no excuses from us, we're just going to keep working.

"I think there were much better parts to the game from last week."

Wales' opening try was somewhat controversial, with replays suggesting Gareth Davies was in an offside position before the scrum-half collected a loose ball and raced 40 metres to touch down.

"I thought he was offside, I could be wrong," added Cotter.

"But that’s part of the game, everyone makes mistakes."
