The 23-year-old collided with team-mate Dexter Fowler on Thursday night and it was believed he suffered just a sprained ankle.

However, after an MRI on Friday, the Cubs revealed outfielder Schwarber also tore both the anterior crucial and latteral collateral ligaments in his left knee.

The Cubs, who are 3-0 to start the 2016 season, will add Munenori Kawasaki to the roster to take Schwarber's spot.
