Cuevas and Klizan in German Tennis Championships final

Third seed Pablo Cuevas will face Martin Klizan in the final of the German Tennis Championships after beating Renzo Olivo in Hamburg on Saturday.

Cuevas has already won two titles this year and the world number 24 can seal a first triumph outside Brazil in 2016 on Sunday after ending Olivo's surprise run with a 7-5 6-3 victory.

Olivo stunned top seed and home hope Philipp Kohlschreiber at the quarter-final stage on Friday, but Cuevas ensured the 153-ranked surprise package will go no further than the last four.

Cuevas, champion in Sao Paulo and Rio this year, had won the only previous meeting between the pair two years ago and needed just the two breaks to get the better of the 24-year-old at the Rothenbaum Tennis Center.

Olivo had his chances, but failed to take any of his six break-point opportunities and Cuevas won 79 per cent of points on his first serve to reach his fourth final of what is proving to be a fruitful year.

Seventh seed Klizan beat the experienced Stephane Robert 6-3 6-4 to set up a showdown with Cuevas.

Slovakian Klizan, eyeing a second tournament victory this year, won five games in a row in the second set to oust Robert - playing his first ATP World Tour semi-final in more than six years.
